The Koenigsegg One:1 has a real shot at reclaiming the title of fastest production car in the world. If and when it takes its shot, it'll be powered by a special five-point-oh, of which Vanilla Ice could never have dreamed.

On this episode of /INSIDE KOENIGSEGG 2, Christian talks about the company's "megawatt" powerplant, the 5.0-liter, twin-turbocharged aluminum V8 that puts the "mega" in the Koenigsegg One:1 "megacar." That is, it produces 1360 hp and 1,011 lb-ft of torque and weighs just 434 pounds doing it. It's also connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that can handle every drop of it.

You'll hear about all of the upgrades to the Agera R's already staggering 1140-hp V8, engineers added to make that extra power, and how they saved weight by using carbon fiber and other exotic-car materials, boosted engine RPM to increase horsepower at the top end, and did other far-out exotic stuff.

Also, if you've been turned off by complex, heavy hybrid supercars, you'll be glad to know Christian agrees.
