What's it like to be a gentleman racer in a modified version of a road car thousands of people drive every day (or at least on weekends)? Let's take a look.
This week on /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS, Chris drives the $440,000 Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3 race car back-to-back with the R8 V10 S-Tronic road car on the Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit.
Naturally, although GT3 racecars are more structurally akin to road cars than some other GTs — that is, GT3 cars must be based on models in production — there are some significant differences between these two R8s. For example, the racecar's less powerful, per GT3 rules, is two wheel drive, and has just a bit of tubing welded to the insides. And that's not mentioning the gearbox, or the racecar's big-ass ode to Jacob Bernoulli out back.
Let us now watch, and listen.
