What's it like to hammer an old pony car around a modern racetrack? Probably like juggling ball bearings in a rainstorm, unless it's a 540-hp screamer that's been purpose-built for track, er, purposes. Let's see how it goes.

This week, on the season opener of /BIG MUSCLE, Mike Musto revisits the "Blu Balz" 1968 pro-touring Camaro — built by JCG Restorations & Customs of Oxnard, California — he featured last year. This time, Musto takes it for a proper shakedown and tuning session at SoCal's Buttonwillow Raceway.

The car gets a regular workout at track events around the country, and has the dings and rashes to prove it. But, you know, that's what it was made for.

Specs time: '68 Camaro with a 7.0-liter LS7 V8, 540 hp at the rear wheels, 520 lb-ft of torque, T56 six-speed, 305 front/345 rear rubber. Lots more on the build here.
